A Promise Fulfilled

A dear friend of the family is getting married tomorrow. Seven years ago, Father promised her that one day she would marry again and that her husband would be a man of His own choosing. He told her that she would love him deeply, and like him, a lot.
So much living has gone into the last seven years. Pause and think on that for a moment. One does not receive a promise from Elohim and then sit down and simply wait. Not only do the responsibilities of life forbid it, but people must walk out their faith while they wait upon the One who is called Faithful and True; otherwise it can hardly be called faith. Yet, to say that this walk isn't hard at times, would be a lie. So as days turned to months and then to years, there were times when she wondered if she had heard her Father's voice, clearly? If maybe she misunderstood? Especially when days or seasons of life would come that were especially difficult and seemed to mock her trust. Times when it would have been so nice to have someone to hold her in her grief, to listen to her frustrations, and to encourage her in the faith. Yet even during days like that, she held on to the One who had promised, knowing that He is, "...not a man, that he should lie, neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Numbers 23:19 KJV
When "The Man" as she called him, arrived, everything became new. I have never known a couple to be more one in Him. Her walk with the Giver of Life is rare. It is on a level of intimacy that few ever reach, let alone abide in. She has been dependant upon no human for so long that she wondered how she would ever submit to a man's authority? This is possible because her groom is not an ordinary man. He knows what it is to die to his own desires, to walk in the light of obedience, and to daily work out his salvation with fear and trembling. He humbly trusts the One who made him, the One who died in his place. He talks to his Father often and he knows his Shepherd's voice. As she got to know this man whom she had prayed and waited for, Father would smile and dissipate her doubts and fears the way the morning sun evaporates the fog.
Seven is the number of completion and fulfillment. How fitting it is that tomorrow our friend will enter into a new covenant with a man whom she loves deeply and likes a lot. Just as He promised.
